EnergyMatched ("we", "us", "our") connects Australian businesses with independent commercial energy brokers who review business electricity and gas bills and contracts. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using our website or submitting an enquiry, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

When you ask us to have your energy bill reviewed (on our website or through a Facebook or Instagram lead form) we collect:

• Your name, mobile number and email address;
• Your business name, the state it is in and its postcode;
• Details about your enquiry, such as your type of business, your average monthly power bill, when your current energy contract ends, and whether you are responsible for the energy bill.

If you go ahead with a bill review, the broker may also ask to see a copy of your energy bill or contract. We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We also use PostHog, a web analytics tool, in cookieless mode to count visits and see which pages get used. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visitors are counted with a one-way hash that cannot be turned back into an identity.

How we use your information

• To contact you about your enquiry and confirm your details, including a first call from our AI assistant;
• To book a call with, and connect you to, a commercial energy broker who can review your bill;
• To contact you about your enquiry by phone, SMS or email;
• To operate, improve and secure our service.

Who we share it with

To provide the service you request, we share the details above with a commercial energy broker ("broker") who covers your state so they can review your bill and contact you about it. Once shared, the broker handles your information under their own privacy practices. If you choose to switch, the broker may pass your details to an energy retailer to set up your new contract.

We also use trusted service providers (for example website hosting, calling and scheduling tools, and customer-management tools) that process information on our behalf, and we may disclose information where required by law.

Marketing and communications

The broker we match you with, and EnergyMatched, may contact you by phone, SMS or email about your bill review and related services. You can opt out at any time by asking us or the broker to stop, or by using any unsubscribe option provided.

Data retention

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details below and we will respond in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
